This wine comes from old Carignan vines planted back in 1931 and 1937 by Eloi’s grandfather. It is a tribute to Eloi who helps me a lot, always ready to give me advice despite his 81 years.
The oldest parcel of the domain we call “la mamie” – the grandma -- but Eloi used to call it “le bénéfice” – the benefit – because it is in the foothills of a mountain and profits from its geological benefits: the soil here is deep, with clay and limestone. The other parcel is called “pierre longue” -- long stone -- because it runs alongside a rocky mass.
A deep crimson colour, with a spicy nose and a harmonious fruity flavour, and a freshness which lets the tannins find their expression on the finish.
It can be kept and will go well with cassoulet or tartiflette as well as a simple platter of cheese.
